Selina Hastings, Biographer of Evelyn Waugh, Speaks at Harry Ransom Center

Selina Hastings, an exceptionally gifted and award-winning writer, presents a free lecture on British author Evelyn Waugh. The author of "Evelyn Waugh: A Biography," Hastings will provide insight about Waugh's life and work, including "Brideshead Revisited." The event is in conjunction with the Ransom Center's new fall exhibition "Writing Among the Ruins: Graham Greene and Evelyn Waugh."

Hastings received not only the 1994 Marsh Biography Prize for her work on Waugh, but also critical praise for her biographies of Nancy Mitford and Rosamond Lehmann. Hastings is working on a biography of Somerset Maugham. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and an Oxford graduate, Hastings was the assistant literary editor at the Daily Telegraph (London) from 1968 to 1982, then literary editor at Harper's & Queen from 1987 to 1995.
